So, last night I had a Bacchus Belgian Ale, which was a surprise beer for me as I had forgotten where or when I bought the bottle and was just doing a little cellar cleaning. It turned out to be a very nice sour ale. Then after publishing my review, I checked my email and lo’ and behold, there’s a Sour Beer Tasting event this Friday, March 16th, at one of my local craft beer shops, Pacific Park Market. So I’m going to keep riding the Sour Beer train this week.
Below is the content of the email invitation, along with a link to the Facebook event page. I’m planning on attending, so I hope to meet you there. I’ll be the guy in the Beer Soaked sweatshirt.
Ken at Pacific Park Market hosts beer and wine tasting events throughout the year in the tasting corral in the middle of his store. At these tastings, he not only shares bottles that he has available for sale, but also breaks into his personal stash to share some goodies as well. In the past beer tasting events that I’ve attended, there were always lots of craft beer fanatics like ourselves hanging out and having a good time. Ken is very knowledgeable about this stuff so I’m looking forward to learning a bit more about Sour Beers this Friday. Fair warning, it can get a tad bit crowded as there’s always a great turnout. (I’ve never been to one of the wine events, but I’m sure they’re great too, if you like that sort of thing.)

Ever wondered about these odd sour beers on the shelf? Come by Friday night and give them a try!
Historians speculate that the first “beers” made by man, were in fact, sour ales, fermented by wild yeasts and bacteria, so come get a taste of history.
As always, keep checking on our Facebook page, and the event page there to stay updated on last-minute beers to be added to the lineup.
