I’ve been looking forward to this beer since I heard about it in May, and thanks to Beer Soaked Erik, I had the opportunity to partake of its cloudy goodness today. Linch Pin is a collaboration between Founder‘s and Green Flash breweries brewmasters; Jeremy Kosmicki and Chuck Silva respectively. The grog pours a cloudy gold with a good size head and lacing. Appearance wise it compares to an unfiltered hef. A good hearty sniff gives you a nose full of citrus; orange and grapefruit to be specific. Taste wise this beer is interesting to say the least. It starts with the aforementioned citrus, but the wheat malt is prominent with a noticeable but not overbearing note of clove. My favorite part of this beer however is the finish; a dry, spicy pepper bite with that lingering hop tang that stays on your tongue for the next 30 minutes. I also noticed this beer was carbonated higher than expected, but that’s not a bad thing, I think it lent to the dry finish. I’ll finish by saying that I couldn’t help but think of this beer as a hoppy hef and I really enjoyed it. 4 beer caps for you Linch Pin, and 5 for you Erik. Thanks for the birthday beer.
Glad you liked it. I was originally going to play it safe and get you a Sculpin, but decided to get the Linch Pin for you instead. Cheers!
